Metaphors

Linda[to Ted]: I got to go. I gotta meet Don at the Who Cares What People Think Cafe. Where if someone sees something that they want, they just have it, and it’s the best thing they’ve ever had. Because that meal’s been practicing yoga for seven years. In case you missed it, by “that meal” I mean me. I’m bad at metaphors, but I’m great at sex.

… and now we weep openly for the demise of quality shows such as Better Off Ted, Arrested Development and many others…

“You’ve been in the same relationship your entire life. You don’t know who you are alone.”

“I think you need to take some time to reintroduce yourself to yourself. You just finished being somebody’s husband, and that didn’t really work out. And now you’re running off to be somebody’s boyfriend? Seems to me you need to take a little breather.

Look, That hair, that dimple, that Terrible clunker you drive– I think you’re about the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. Here’s my number. When you get things sorted out, give me a call.”

From Glee, S01E14 “Hell-O”

Just struck a chord with me. Pun intended.

That shit was unseemly, man!

Just finished watching all 5 seasons of “The Wire” last night. Took about 2 weeks to work through it, and in that time, I didn’t just watch that exclusively.  Being unemployed has afforded me a considerable amount of leisure time.   I just can’t say enough great things about the show.  Underneath it’s harsh urban ghetto-ness is a show that most people just can’t grasp.  The level of detail and the manner in which all things are connected within the show is just amazing.  I could start back at Season 1, Episode 1 and pick up things I missed in previous viewings.

Just a couple of videos. I could post these all day, but whatever.

Charlie Brooker explains why The Wire is the best TV show of the last 20 years.

The Bigger The Lie…

Monday is my favorite time of year…

Another work week has come to a close, and here we are…. During this last week, I’ve given my notice, I turned 30, and I’ve had a serious motivation issue. Of course, my motivation, or lack there of is nothing new at all.

I felt like I struggled this weekend with my ticket counts. I only had 45 or so tickets on Sunday, and Saturday I didn’t close my 40th until right at 10pm. Granted, both days were slow, but still. Today wasn’t particularly busy and I closed 56 tickets. My ratings have sucked, largely because I’m just not getting any. I got 1 rating yesterday out of 46 tickets and it was a 1. Today I posted 56, and I got two ratings, a 9 and 10. Anything 2-9 is fucking worthless to me. 1′s suck, but I’m more of a yes or no, white or black kinda guy. Just so you know, at the job, you’re expect to maintain a 9 or higher rating. With today’s 9 and 10, I’m at a 8.6. :(

When I was leaving work, it was starting to lightning. As I drove home, the lightning got progressively stronger. On the beltway, the lightning got awesome. Cloud to ground. I wish I had a camera fast enough to get some shots.

By the time I got to 1960, it started raining, hard. I had the top down. I managed to get all the way to my apartment complex before I really got wet. If the gate had been open, I probably would have been fine.

So now it’s Friday (monday) night.. I watched the season finale of House which was pretty awesome, now I’m killing my Netflix queue.  Good times.
